Operation

Priming the Pump

Before priming the pump, or starting the pump, be sure that all suction and discharge lines are connected properly and that proper valves are open.

image 21 Prime mode can be started by pressing the Prime button. The pump will run at 100% speed for 60 seconds.  The pump can be stopped at any time by pressing the Start/Stop key.

Calibration

  1. Be sure the injection fitting and foot valve / strainer are clean and working properly.
  2. Fill a large, graduated cylinder with solution to be injected.
  3. With the pump installed under normal operating conditions, place suction tubing with Footvalve / Strainer installed in a graduated cylinder.
  4. Run the pump until all air is removed from the suction line and the solution enters the discharge tubing.
  5. Remove the suction tubing from the graduated cylinder and refill the graduated cylinder if necessary. Note the amount of solution in a graduated cylinder.
  6. Place suction tubing with Footvalve / Strainer installed back into the graduated cylinder.
  7. Run pump for a measured amount of time. A longer testing time will produce more accurate results.
  8. Remove the suction tubing from the graduated cylinder. Measure amount of chemical injected.

Example:

During your 1 minute calibration period, you pumped 1000 Milliliters in 1 minute.

1 US Gallon = 3.785 Liters = 3785 Milliliters

(1000 mL/Min / 3785 mL/gal) x  60 min/hr = 15.85 GPH (US gallons per hour)

Remote Start/Stop

image 23If the C3 pump has been programmed for Remote Start/Stop feature, press the Start button to put the pump into Ready “STBY” mode.  (When in Remote Mode, the display will show “REMOTE” in the bottom right corner.)  The pump will run if a signal is received. If the pump is waiting for a signal to run, it will be in “STBY” state. The display will read “STBY” if waiting for a signal from the user-provided control system. Once a signal is received, the pump will start/run.

Manual Speed Adjust

image 24The initial/default mode of the pump will be Mode 1  “Manual Speed Adjust.”  Verify that you are in Manual Mode by noting the operating mode at the top of the screen. Adjust pump speed by pressing the Up and Down arrow keys. Pump speed can also be adjusted by pressing and holding the Mode button (V model only).  Then set the pump for a specific speed.  Press and hold Mode button to return to operation.

Note: Press and Hold Mode button while in any operating mode will take you directly to the setting screen for that mode. Adjust settings and Save, and/or press and hold Mode button again to return to normal operation.

Other Operating Modes

To run the C3 pump (V model) in other operating modes (4-20mA,  Frequency, Pulse Input), press and release Mode button until the desired mode is displayed on the top of the screen.

Diaphragm Failure Detection (DFD)

The C3 pump is equipped with leak-detection located behind the diaphragm.  If a diaphragm fails or leaks, the chemical will trigger the sensor, stop the pump, and activate an alarm.

image 25If DFD alarm occurs, the pump will stop, close an alarm output, and the screen will flash with a red alarm. If the system has detected a chemical, the diaphragm must be replaced, and any chemical must be cleaned from the pump.

Remove the pump head to replace the diaphragm. Failure to clean the pump properly will void the warranty.

Flow Verification System (FVS)

The C3 pump is equipped with a flow verification system (FVS), which will signal the pump when there is a “No Flow” signal coming from a flow sensor. The flow sensor must provide a pulse signal to the pump within the programming delay time.  If a signal is not provided, the pump will stop and “FVS” will appear on the screen.  To reset, simply press the start/stop button to resume pumping.

If “FVS” appears during pumping and there is no flow sensor connected, this will indicate that a “delay time” has been programmed (possibly in error). To deactivate the FVS, stop the pump and enter programming Mode (by pressing and holding the start/stop button (F model), or by pressing and holding the Mode button when in Mode 0. Press and release button unit “FVS” appears on the screen. Follow the instructions in the manual for more detail.)  Be sure the delay time is set to “00” to deactivate the FVS feature.
