Cooling Tower Water Treatment

Blue-White® manufacturers chemical metering pumps for pH adjustment, disinfection, and equipment upkeep.

What is a Cooling Tower?

Cooling towers cool water and are massive heat exchangers, expelling building heat into the atmosphere. They remove heat absorbed in circulating water systems used in various industries such as power plants, chemical processing, steel mills, and other places where processing cooling is needed. Also, commercial cooling towers provide comfort cooling for large commercial buildings like airports, schools, hospitals, and hotels.

The Importance of Cooling Tower Water Treatment...

All cooling water contains contaminants. The contaminants in cooling water can be broken down into four main groups: suspended solids, dissolved solids, dissolved gases, and microorganisms. One source of contaminants is air; the other is from makeup water. Lack of proper treatment of contaminants can lead to scale formation, corrosion, and increased bacteria levels in the water.

The entire purpose of a water treatment program is to provide efficiency, water conservation, prevent human health-related concerns, and maintain equipment.

Metering Pumps for Water Treatment

Blue-White® chemical metering pumps products help reduce energy costs and maximize cooling tower performance by preventing scale build-up and corrosion. In addition, proper dosage of biocides prevents microbiological activity, which reduces the risk of Legionnaire’s disease. Depending on the required flow rate, back pressure requirements, chemical requirements, and control options, Blue-White has a complete metering pump lineup to meet application demands.
