What it Does

Where our
Solutions Work

Sodium hypochlorite remains the most widely used disinfectant for commercial pools and water features. Blue-White® offers both peristaltic and diaphragm chemical metering pumps for precise, reliable chlorine dosing — giving aquatics professionals the right technology for their facility and budget.

Precision Dosing

Why Reliable Chlorination Is Critical

Chlorine is the primary line of defense against bacteria, viruses, and algae in commercial swimming pools, water parks, and other aquatic features. For the health and safety of swimmers, chlorine levels must remain within a precise range — typically 1 to 3 ppm of free available chlorine for most jurisdictions.

The challenge is that sodium hypochlorite (liquid chlorine) is a notoriously difficult chemical to meter. It degrades over time, produces gas as it breaks down, and can cause vapor lock in conventional diaphragm pumps. When a chemical feed pump loses prime or clogs, chlorine levels drop — and with them, the safety of every person in the water.

Poor chlorination can result in bacterial outbreaks, cloudy or discolored water, strong chemical odors from chloramines, regulatory penalties, and in serious cases, forced facility closures until proper water chemistry is restored.

Key Considerations:

  • Sodium hypochlorite off-gasses, causing vapor lock and lost prime in conventional diaphragm pumps
  • Peristaltic pump technology eliminates these issues — no valves, no vapor lock, no lost prime
  • Consistent dosing maintains 1–3 ppm free chlorine to meet health department regulations
  • Tube Failure Detection (TFD) adds safety against chemical spills and system downtime

Why Peristaltic Technology

The Peristaltic Advantage for Chlorine Feed

Peristaltic metering pumps are the ideal choice for sodium hypochlorite dosing because the chemical only contacts the interior tubing — never the pump mechanism. This eliminates the valve fouling, corrosion, and vapor lock issues inherent to diaphragm-style pumps when handling off-gassing chemicals.

No Vapor Lock

The peristaltic pumping action continuously moves fluid forward regardless of gas accumulation, so the pump cannot lose prime — even with heavily off-gassing chemicals like sodium hypochlorite.

No Valves to Clog

Unlike diaphragm pumps, peristaltic pumps have no check valves or seals. There are no internal components that can become fouled with chemical buildup, dramatically reducing unscheduled maintenance.

Tube Failure Detection

Blue-White's patented TFD system detects chemical in the pump head if tubing ruptures, immediately shutting down the pump and activating an alarm — preventing hazardous spills and protecting personnel.
